Obstacle 01 · Cross-collateral sequence

Plan both homes—and the exit.

Cross-collateral financing is a transition tool. The sale, release of the departure property and long-term financing should be planned before the purchase.

  1. Buy and moveTransition financing uses both properties as collateral, subject to approval and terms.
  2. Sell the departure homeUse proceeds as required by the financing and obtain the agreed release of that property.
  3. Complete the long-term planAddress the remaining new-home debt with appropriate financing, subject to qualification. Do not assume later refinancing is guaranteed.

A few things matter.
